My old boss told me to always CC the client on every email
He said it covers your butt, but after 6 months I got called out by a project manager for flooding their inbox with minor updates. Has anyone else had a policy backfire like that?

Your boss gave you that classic "cover your butt" advice, right? Now the project manager wants to bury yours for clogging their inbox. Nothing says professional like sending a "per our conversation" email about what you had for lunch. I've seen this backfire so hard someone got un-CC'd from their own wedding invites.

lol is it really that deep though? Pretty sure the PM has seen worse spam than a few recap emails.
