I was reading a study on AI hiring tools and found a stat that made me pause
It said one system was 40% less likely to recommend women for tech roles based on its training data. I found this in a research paper from a university last month. Does anyone have experience with how companies are supposed to check for this kind of bias?

Check that stat again because 40% is insane. The training data must have been really messed up. Companies need to audit these tools way more carefully.

Wait, 40% less likely just because someone's a woman? That's not a small mistake, that's the whole system being broken from the start. How does a company even let that get out the door? You'd think they'd run some basic checks before using it to judge real people's jobs. Makes you wonder what else is baked into these tools that nobody's catching.
