Washing dishes without my phone showed me how single-tasking clears my mind.
Idk, trying to do two things at once just splits my focus and nothing gets done right.

How did you resist checking your phone while doing the dishes? I can't imagine just standing there with my hands in soapy water and nothing to distract me. Isn't that boring? My brain would scream for stimulation after like two minutes. Maybe that's the point though, to let your mind wander instead of filling every second.

You know what surprised me, I started paying attention to the actual water temperature instead. Feeling the shift from hot to warm as the soap does its thing is its own weird little rhythm that keeps you present without needing a screen. It turns the whole chore into a physical check-in rather than a mental escape.

Try putting your phone in another room before you start! Focusing on the water temp makes the time fly by once you get used to it.

Wait, you used to feel like you needed a screen too? I mean, I was the same, I'd prop my phone up and watch stuff. But after reading what @the_gavin said about the water temp, I tried it. It sounds silly, but just feeling the heat change on my hands actually made the whole thing feel less like a chore.
