Shoutout to the guy at the Portland plant swap who corrected my watering routine
I kept losing my string of pearls to root rot, and for years I thought it was just bad luck. He pointed out I was watering on a weekly schedule like my other succulents, but these guys need way less, maybe every three weeks in my dry apartment. That small change made me see I was treating all my plants the same instead of learning what each one actually needs. Anyone else have a plant that totally flipped the script on your usual care rules?

Read something similar about mimicking a plant's natural habitat for watering.

Honestly, watering every three weeks instead of every week? That's such a tiny change, it feels like people make plant care way more complicated than it needs to be. They're just plants, not kids with a strict schedule. Mine get watered when they look sad and I remember, and they're fine. Sometimes I think we overthink this stuff for no real reason.

Totally get where you're coming from. My plants survive on neglect and good intentions too. Feels like half the advice is just noise.
