I swore by a 10-ton jack for all my car work, but a buddy's 3-ton unit handled a 4,000-pound elevator motor swap just fine.

We used it in a tight Philly basement last week and it was way easier to position. Anyone have a go-to lightweight jack for awkward hoistway jobs?

My old Pittsburgh 2-ton from Harbor Freight. Low profile, fits under most stuff. The handle comes off so you can get it into weird corners. Thing's a tank for how small it is.

How's the build quality held up over time? Those low profile jacks can take a beating but sometimes the seals go. Just curious if it's still going strong.

That handle removal feature is a game changer for tight spots. Most people just talk about the lift capacity and forget about actually getting the jack into position. Makes a simple tool way more useful than it looks.
