That $40 Chinese hot air station nearly started a fire in my shop
I picked up a cheap 858D off Amazon for $40 to do some SMD work and the handle melted after 20 minutes of use, almost caught my bench on fire. Anyone else had a budget tool turn into a hazard on you?

Same thing happened with my $25 heat gun. Melted the nozzle within minutes.

That 25 dollar heat gun from the same brand @michaeld48 mentioned with his soldering iron? Yeah, I've seen that exact model fail in similar ways. Did you notice if the nozzle actually warped or just started smoking right away? Because mine went through a whole cycle where it melted down the trigger mechanism first before the nozzle even gave out. I'd be curious if yours did the same thing or if it was a different kind of failure entirely. Just trying to figure out if these cheap tools have a consistent weak point.

Yeah the handle melted after 20 minutes" sounds like my $15 soldering iron that literally sparked at me.
