Can we talk about the janky grounding job I saw at a grocery store in St. Louis last week

Whoever ran a bare copper wire across a drop ceiling and taped it to a sprinkler pipe should have their license pulled, has anyone else seen hack work like that in commercial spots?

Depends on the inspector honestly. If it passed, maybe the tape was listed for fire suppression systems and nobody bothered to put a connector on it. Code is more like guidelines when the building was built in 1972 anyway.

Tbh that tape is a fire hazard waiting to happen, not a code workaround.

Caught an article last week about old commercial buildings and fire code stuff. @the_thea's right that 1972 codes were a lot looser than now, but that tape stuff still sketches me out.
