The day the office coffee machine finally broke for good was a win for morale somehow

Our ancient Bunn coffee maker at the shop had been spitting out burnt tasting sludge for like 6 months. Nobody wanted to be the one to replace it because that felt like admitting defeat. Then last Tuesday it just died mid-brew with a loud pop and smoke. We pooled $40 and grabbed a simple Mr. Coffee from Target, and honestly the first clean cup of coffee made everyone crack a smile for once. Has anyone else had a broken thing become a weird group bonding moment?

And then you get weirdly attached to the broken stuff too. Like that squeaky door becomes part of the office soundtrack, and when it finally gets fixed the silence feels wrong for a week.

That bit about nobody wanting to replace it because that felt like admitting defeat really hit home for me. We had a microwave at work that smelled like burnt popcorn for two years before someone finally just brought in their own.

Starts to feel like a whole pattern across life, @riley_wood84. The burnt microwave thing, the squeaky door nobody oils, the light flickering in the break room for six months. We all just adapt around the broken thing instead of just fixing it. Like buying a new phone charger every few weeks because the one you have is frayed, but you never actually throw the frayed one away. Piles up.
