Vent: My old guitar amp finally gave out after 30 years
I had a 1975 Fender Twin Reverb that my dad gave me, but last Tuesday the transformer blew during a practice session and it's not worth fixing. The repair shop in Austin quoted me $600 for a new one, and that's more than I spent on my last car. Has anyone else had to let go of a piece of gear they thought would last forever?

Honestly, my buddy's Marshall caught fire at a party once.

Three camping trips in a row now I've seen something catch fire.

Well I see it a little different honestly. I've had the same amp for close to fifteen years now and never had a problem like that. @jason_lewis3 mentioned three camping trips in a row with fires and that sounds more like a pattern with the gear or how it's being used. Most amp fires come from bad power or old wiring, not from the amp itself being defective. Your buddy's story could have been from a cheap surge protector or a damp basement too. I'm not saying it's impossible but one fire story doesn't mean the whole brand is dangerous.
