Spent $12 on a dream notebook and it fixed my sleep

I kept having this dream where I could only move if I paid a tax in bottle caps. It felt so real and important. So I bought a cheap notebook from the drugstore and put it by my bed. Now when I wake up, I write down the dream rules before I forget. It cost maybe $12 total with the pen. After doing this for two weeks, I started noticing patterns, like my brain always makes me solve a puzzle to use a door. Has anyone else tried writing this stuff down? What weird dream currency do you have?

Honestly read an article once about how writing down dreams can make your brain stop repeating the same stressful themes. Tbh your bottle cap tax is way more creative than my usual dream where I just forget my locker combination. Ngl I tried the notebook thing but kept falling back asleep before writing anything legible. Might give it another shot because figuring out those patterns sounds pretty cool.

My friend kept a dream journal for six months and said it just made her notice the stress more. She started having the locker dream twice a week instead of once.

That locker combo dream is a classic. My weird repeat one involved trying to pay for groceries with foreign coins that kept changing size. Keeping a voice memo app on my phone helped me actually record something before falling back asleep, even if it was just mumbling.

Wait, what if noticing the stress more is actually the whole point? Like, your friend seeing the locker dream twice a week isn't the journal making it worse, it's her finally seeing how often her brain is stuck on that track. The writing just holds up a mirror. You can't fix a pattern you don't even know is playing on a loop.
