Wasted $150 on a cheap laser level that drifted after 10 minutes

Bought a no-name laser level off Amazon for a big ceiling grid layout job last month. It was completely useless after warming up, shifted the whole layout by half an inch. Anybody got a brand recommendation that actually holds calibration?

I picked up a Bosch GLL30 last year after my first cheap one drifted on me during a closet install. That little thing held steady for the whole day, even after running for six hours straight. The self-leveling actually worked and I didn't have to keep checking it every 15 minutes. It's about $100 but totally worth it for the reliability, especially if you're doing ceiling grids where a half inch messes everything up. Just make sure you let it warm up for a minute or two if you're working in a cold space.

Tbh I was skeptical of Bosch for the longest time. I always thought they were overpriced and that you could get the same thing from a cheaper brand. But @the_jennifer, your story about the six hour run and it staying steady makes me reconsider. My old one from Home Depot started bouncing around after half an hour and I had to redo a whole kitchen layout. Ngl the cold start tip is good to know too, I work in basements all winter and my stuff never behaves right until it warms up. Maybe I need to quit being cheap with my tools.
