A client told me my detail callouts looked like a toddler's scribbles
I was working on a set of shop drawings for a steel frame in Houston, and the client sent back a redline with a note that said, 'I can't tell if this is a weld symbol or a spider.' I had crammed so many notes into a tiny area that it was a total mess. I spent the next day redoing the whole sheet, spreading the notes out and using a cleaner leader line style. Has anyone else had a client give you a weird but totally right piece of feedback that made you change a habit?

Got a similar note about my messy layer labels once.

Yeah, that "word salad" thing is real. Sometimes you have to step back and ask if your own notes would make sense to a total stranger.

My old boss in Phoenix used to call my packed reports "word salad." It's easy to get lost in the details and forget someone else has to read it. That kind of blunt feedback usually points to a real communication problem.
