Holding off on nailing down those planks was the best call

I almost rushed to install the new flooring... but let the wood sit for a few days first. Everything lined up perfectly without any issues later.

Always worth letting wood adjust to the room's humidity.

My maple planks from Lowe's were ready to go right out of the truck. I put them in the same day and they've been fine for two years now. Sometimes letting wood sit just slows down the job for no good reason.

Totally agree, my oak went down same day and looks great, despite what @piper_kim says.

Read on a woodworking blog that maple from big box stores is often kiln-dried to lower moisture content. It might seem stable, but indoor humidity can still cause movement over time. Two years isn't that long for wood floors. I'd still give it a week to settle, but hey, what do I know.
