Built a bookshelf last weekend. Used a level. Still wonky.

Checked the level three times. Plumb line too. All said it was straight. Then I put the books on and it leans forward. Looks like it's about to tip over. My floor must be crooked or something. Anyone else have a level lie to them?

Totally feel your pain here, that's super frustrating! Happened to me with a desk I put together last year. I checked the level so many times and it was perfect, but once I set my monitor on it the whole thing wobbled like crazy. Turns out my floor is a little bent too, just like yours. A couple of those little plastic shims under the front legs fixed the tilt for me, maybe that would help you out too.

Did you try putting a level on the floor itself? I had the same problem with a cabinet I built. The level said it was straight but once I put my dishes in it, everything tilted. Turned out my floor slopes about half an inch across the room. Ended up having to shim the whole thing from the bottom. That fixed the lean right up.

Buddy of mine had the same issue, @karen361, and his floors were worse than that.
