Had a chat with a hostel owner in Medellin that made me question my whole setup

I was staying at this place in El Poblado for a week and got to talking with the owner about how long I've been on the road. He asked if I actually liked working from coffee shops every day or if it was just easier. I told him it saves me money on coworking fees, like $150 a month easy. But he pointed out that I'm always complaining about bad wifi and noisy spots, so maybe I'm just cheaping out on myself. It hit different because he was right, I spend more time hunting for a good table than actually getting work done. Has anyone else realized they're sacrificing comfort just to save a few bucks?

Eh, it's just a hostel owner trying to upsell you on his coworking space.

Oh man, I actually used to roll my eyes at those "nomad packages" too. Thought they were just a gimmick to charge extra for a sticky desk and bad wifi. But after staying at a place in Medellin that actually had a legit coworking floor with proper monitors and soundproof booths, I totally changed my tune. A good setup makes a huge difference when you're trying to actually get work done between hostel shenanigans. Still, I bet 90% of them are exactly as sketchy as people say.

Yeah, I remember a hostel owner trying to sell me a "digital nomad package" once, it was just a scratched up table in a broom closet.
