I heard a client call their own website a 'digital brochure' and it made me stop.

I was on a call with a new client from Phoenix yesterday, and they said, 'Our site is just a digital brochure, right?' It hit me how many people still think that way. We spent the next 20 minutes talking about lead forms and tracking, and their eyes just lit up. It's wild how a simple phrase can show a whole gap in thinking. Has anyone else had a client say something that totally showed their old-school view of marketing?

Totally, that phrase is such a red flag. It shows they see their site as a static billboard, not a tool that works for them. I had a client call their contact form a "guestbook" once, like it was just for nice comments. We changed it to a clear "Get a Quote" button with a few quick questions, and their leads went way up. It's all about shifting that mindset from online placeholder to a real business engine.

That "guestbook" thing is spot on. A buddy of mine had a client who called their whole website a "business card." They just wanted their address and phone number online. My friend showed them how adding a simple "Book a Consult" calendar link, right on the home page, could actually get them appointments. The client was shocked it could do that. It's like they never thought of the site as something that could save them time or make money directly.

Yeah, that phrase is a total trap. Good point @rose_reed about changing the button text, it's all about framing.
