Showerthought: I spent 8 hours trying to get a simple glow effect right in Krita

Honestly, I was doing a cyberpunk city piece and wanted a neon sign to look like it was buzzing. Ngl, I messed with layer styles and custom brushes for a full work day before I realized I had the blend mode set wrong the whole time. Has anyone else wasted a crazy amount of time on what should have been a five-minute fix?

That blend mode trap is the worst. Was it something like having it on "normal" when you needed "screen" or "add"? I've definitely spent an hour trying to make a color pop, only to find the layer was set to "multiply" and I was just making everything darker.

Multiply is the ultimate "why is this so dark" button.

Yeah, that "why is this so dark" feeling is the worst. I just got in the habit of checking the blend mode first, like dakota415 said.

Ever try to do a quick fix and accidentally leave it on overlay from your last project?
