Ran into the owner of that new Corktown coffee shop at the hardware store

He was buying a specific hinge for the front door and said, 'If the first thing people touch doesn't feel right, they won't come back.' I mean, idk, it just made me think about all the tiny details we ignore. Anyone else have a small fix that ended up mattering way more than you thought?

My apartment door used to stick so bad I had to shoulder-check it open. Finally sanded down the frame and it felt like a whole new place. I guess we put up with a lot of broken stuff until we actually fix it.

Totally! I replaced my old kitchen faucet last month. The old one wobbled and dripped, drove me nuts. Now turning on the water just feels good, sets the tone for the whole room.

Honestly, I spent way too long picking out a new doorknob for my own front door. Tbh, it felt silly at the time, but now I notice it every single day and it just feels solid. That coffee guy is totally onto something.
