At a city hall meeting last month, I heard a council member say 'we need more businesses that stay.'
It made me rethink my whole plan to flip my storefront location every few years. Now I'm debating if building a long-term spot in one neighborhood is smarter than chasing the next hot area. What's your take on planting roots versus staying mobile?

But what if the hot area moves to you, @mark_carr7?

That council member has a point about community trust. When you keep moving, customers see you as temporary and don't get attached. Planting roots lets you build a real customer base that comes back because they know you'll be there. You also save a ton on moving costs and setup time every few years. Sure, you might miss a trend, but a loyal neighborhood will support you through slow periods too. It's the difference between being a pop-up and being a local landmark.

That "save a ton on moving costs" part is so true. We settled in one spot and suddenly had money for better equipment instead of giving it to movers.
