Tried the Marie Kondo method vs just trashing everything. One worked way better.

Last year I spent a Sunday folding all my t-shirts into tiny rectangles like Marie Kondo says. Took forever and didn't really change how I use my closet. Last month I just filled three garbage bags and took them straight to Goodwill on 5th Avenue. Felt way more done with it. Has anyone else found a specific declutter system that actually stuck?

Yeah the Kondo thing never clicked with me either. I just grab stuff I haven't touched in a year and toss it in a box. If I don't go looking for something in that box within a month, it goes straight to the donation center.

Huh, you actually just changed my mind with that box trick.

That box method works BEAUTIFULLY because it takes the pressure off making permanent decisions right away. A big cardboard box shoved in the closet costs nothing and lets you test what you actually miss. For clothes I do the same thing but flip the hangers backwards on the rod. Anything still facing backwards after three months gets donated, no second guessing allowed.
