My donation pile kept coming back until I stopped using boxes
I've been decluttering my basement in Columbus for about 3 months now, and I noticed the same mistake every time. I'd fill a big box with stuff to donate, set it by the door, and then two weeks later I'd be digging through it because I needed something I'd tossed in there. Turns out, the box just became a staging area for my own junk. Last Saturday I switched to loading items straight into my trunk the moment I decide they go, and I drove to Goodwill same day. That one change cut my pile in half because I stopped second-guessing every item. I think the problem is that boxes feel temporary, so your brain treats the stuff like it still lives there. Has anyone else found that the longer stuff sits in a donation container, the more likely it sneaks back into rotation?
