Hot take: Most people declutter the wrong rooms first

Everyone starts with the bedroom or closet but I think that's a mistake. In my experience, the kitchen is the best place to begin because you use it 3 times a day and the payoff is instant. Just last week a friend of mine cleared her countertops in 45 minutes and said she felt 10 pounds lighter.

Started organizing my pantry before touching anything else and it totally changed how I approached the rest of the house. You get that quick win from clearing out expired cans and wiping down shelves, and it gives you momentum to tackle bigger messes. I even meal prepped for a full week after that because everything was finally easy to find.

Oh man, that's such a good trick! I think the pantry is like the gateway to getting your whole life together, once that's sorted you just want to keep going and organize everything else. Now I'm tempted to go dump out all my mismatched spices and see what happens.

It's wild how one small win like that just pulls everything else into place, right @quinna89? I've noticed the same thing with cleaning out my fridge or even just making my bed in the morning. That little bit of order gives you such a clear head for the rest of the day, makes you want to keep the energy going instead of feeling overwhelmed by the bigger stuff.
