Tried the fancy task manager app for 2 weeks then went back to a legal pad

I spent $12 on some app with AI sorting and priority scores, but my paper list got 3 more things done this morning before 9am. There's just something about crossing out a task with a pen that hits different. Has anyone else found the simple method beats the shiny tool?

Wait, you mean the $12 app didn't magically turn you into a productivity robot? Shocking. I swear these apps are just digital fidget spinners for adults who want to feel busy without actually doing anything. Paper doesn't crash, run out of battery, or send me annoying notifications at 6pm asking if I finished my "priority one" task. Plus, I get to use my fancy pen collection, which is really the whole point. You get it though, right?

Honestly though, I see it the other way. My digital app keeps everything in one place and syncs across devices so I don't lose my list, which happens all the time with my paper notes. The act of crossing things off feels great but so does getting a buzz on my watch when I tick something off from the grocery store.

The buzz on the watch thing is actually kind of funny because I once set my grocery list to have a specific alert sound, and it went off during a very quiet work meeting. My phone started yelling "BUY EGGS" in the middle of a presentation. Paper lists never embarrass me in public like that. But hey, at least my digital app helps me remember I need milk, which is more than I can say for my paper list that I left in my other coat pocket last week.
