Paper maps vs my phone GPS on a drive through Ohio last Tuesday
I had to choose between following my dad's old folded map of Route 33 or trusting the voice on my phone, and I picked the map because the phone kept losing signal near Millersburg. Turns out the map had a road that closed in 1998, so I added 40 minutes and saw a barn with a giant fiberglass cow. Anyone else had a nostalgic choice like this blow up in their face, or do you stick with the tech every time?

Oh wow, that fiberglass cow sounds like the silver lining though! I actually read somewhere that the old maps are still better for spotting weird roadside stuff because the GPS only shows you the fastest route, not the fun one. My cousin swore by his atlas on a trip to Maine and he found this abandoned drive-in theater that wasn't on any app, but then his alternator died right after, so I guess it's a mixed bag. I figure as long as you pack snacks and a backup charger, you're fine either way.
