I finally had my phone screen crack after 3 years of careful use
Was just walking from my car to the front door in Dayton yesterday, dropped it maybe two feet onto the sidewalk, and now I've got a spiderweb in the top corner. No case on it because I thought I was careful enough, guess not. Anyone else have a phone last forever and then break on the smallest mistake?

Saw a guy on YouTube explain micro fractures are like a ticking time bomb for phone glass.

@sage_green nailed it, those micro cracks just build up until the phone decides to give out.

Wait, Dayton Ohio or Daytona? Because if you're in Ohio we had that random sleet storm yesterday and sidewalks were basically ice patches. That two foot drop might've been more like a four foot slide and slam situation.
But anyway, that's always how it goes with phones. I had my old Galaxy S9 for like four years, no case, not a single scratch. Then one day I set it down on a table a little too hard and the whole back glass just exploded for no reason.
The thing is those gorilla glasses or whatever they use get micro fractures over time from temperature changes and stuff. So what looks like a "small mistake" is really just the phone giving up after years of invisible wear and tear.
