My timer app failed me at the worst moment in Denver

I was baking a triple layer cake for my sister's surprise party in Denver, and my phone's timer app kept crashing every time I tried to set a new one. By the third attempt, I lost track that the first layer had been in the oven for 22 minutes, so it came out darker than my coffee. Instead of panicking, I grabbed an old egg timer from my grandma's stuff and used that for the next two layers, which actually worked better. Has anyone else had a tech tool flake out mid-project and had to go totally old school?
