Found a way to spot fake login pages that actually worked for me

I got a text last week saying my streaming account was locked, and the link looked real but the login page felt off. I right-clicked on the page and chose 'view page source', then searched for the real company's name and found it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the code. Has anyone else used this simple check to avoid getting tricked?

Saw a tech blog mention checking for HTTPS in the address bar too.

Wait, that's not common knowledge?

Oh man, my friend almost fell for one of those fake delivery texts. The page looked exactly like the real shipping company site. He got suspicious and did the view source thing too... found a bunch of weird code names and a totally different company buried in there. He closed it so fast. It's scary how real they make them look now.
