Trying to get a credit limit increase took me almost 4 months
Honestly, I thought asking for a higher limit on my main card would be a quick call. I called in February, had a good score, and paid on time for years. The rep said it would be a soft pull and take 7-10 days. A month went by with nothing. I called again and they said my request was 'under review' and to wait. I waited another month. I finally got a letter in late May saying they needed more income proof, which I sent right away. It took another two weeks after that to get a yes, and they only gave me $500 more. The whole thing felt like pulling teeth for a tiny result. Has anyone else had a bank drag out a simple request like this?

Sounds like they make you jump through hoops on purpose.

Ugh, that's the worst. My friend had a similar thing happen where they kept "losing" her paperwork for a car loan. It feels like a test to see if you'll just give up.

My buddy Greg tried to get a mortgage last year. The bank asked for his last two pay stubs three separate times, claiming they never got them. He finally mailed them certified mail and suddenly it was no problem. It's exactly what you're saying, @the_alice, they just wait to see who gets tired of the game. He said it felt like they were hoping he'd just accept a worse rate out of frustration. The whole thing added two extra weeks to his closing date for no real reason.
