Overheard a guy at the tire shop say he never uses his credit card for auto repairs, and I finally get why.

That flat tire scenario from @seth_singh20 is my actual nightmare! I can't imagine not having a card for a real emergency tow.

Oh brilliant, so his financial plan is just to hope the car breaks down on the exact day his "car stuff" savings account is full! That's way more reliable than math. My luck, I'd save for two years and then blow it all on a single flat tire. Cash might not follow you home, but the tow truck bill sure will.

Man, that guy is onto something. I put a big repair on a card once and the interest just ate me alive. It took forever to pay off. Now I save a little each month in a separate account just for car stuff. Cash hurts when you hand it over, but it doesn't follow you home for years.
