My issue with dream job writing prompts

Dream job prompts are everywhere. I skip them. Office life has real conflict. Write about a missed promotion or a boring commute.

Thought those dream job prompts were fun for a long time. Then I wrote about my real commute, stuck in bad traffic every morning. I found more to say in that daily grind than any made-up perfect job. Now I look for drama in small stuff, like a missed email or a long meeting.

My coffee machine breaking is my thriller plot.

That's the real stuff right there. The best stories hide in plain sight. You just have to look at your day sideways.

Totally get what @christopher_patel means. I started doing the same thing with my own boring errands and it really works. Finding the tension in normal stuff is way better than forcing some big idea.
