Found that old trick of writing the ending first actually worked for me.

I was stuck on a fantasy story for like 3 months, couldn't get past chapter two. Then I just wrote the final scene on a napkin during lunch at a diner off Route 9. Knew where I was going after that, and the whole thing came together in about 2 weeks. Anyone else ever try jumping ahead like that and have it click?

Ha, my napkin note was so bad I lost the diner's address.

Doesn't knowing the ending kill all the FUN of discovering the story as you write?

Did your napkin ending actually make it into the final draft or did you rewrite it completely?
