Maybe it's just me but I think we rely too much on the anti-two-block system

Last Thursday on a site in Tacoma, the anti-two-block sensor on my 80-tonner gave a false clear signal during a blind pick. I had the boom at about 70 degrees and was bringing up a concrete panel when the headache ball suddenly jammed against the hook block. I had to drop the load right there, about 3 feet off the deck, and manually reset everything. Has anyone else had a sensor fail and what's your backup check?

That sounds way too close for comfort.

Yeah I used to brush stuff like that off, but then something similar happened to a friend. It really made me see how easy it is to get caught off guard. Now I pay way more attention to my surroundings, you know? What made you feel that way about it?

After our sensor failed, we started doing a quick visual check before every blind lift. It adds a few seconds but saved us from another close call.

What's your go-to backup when tech fails like that?
