My first memory is my dad's hands covered in flour, teaching me to roll dough at age four.

For decades, I baked with anger, rushing to finish like it was a chore. After he passed last spring, I finally slowed down and felt the dough, and now it's my calm place. Does anyone else have a simple memory that completely flipped how you handle stress now?

That part about rushing to finish like it was a chore. I see that everywhere now. People treat their whole lives like a list to get through. My neighbor gardens like he's mad at the dirt. Then his kid started helping him, just poking seeds in the ground. Now he's out there for hours, calm. It's like we have to forget the point of a thing before we can remember why we even liked it.

That bit about forgetting the point of a thing, @rubyk26. My friend used to run to burn off stress, just punishing miles. Then she tore a ligament and had to walk. She said she noticed flowers in yards she'd sprinted past for years. Now her slow walks are her reset button.

Man, I've found just focusing on my breathing for a minute can reset my whole day.
