My aunt's offhand comment about our family farm flipped a memory I trusted

Last month at a funeral in Des Moines, my aunt mentioned how our grandpa sold the farm in 1987 because he hated the land, not because of the drought like I always told myself. I had built my whole childhood around that harvest memory, but she had photos and receipts proving we moved two years before the drought hit. Has anyone else had a close relative quietly correct a core memory that you thought was rock solid?
