Honestly, my strongest memory is my dad teaching me to ride a bike in the church parking lot

I was maybe five, and he held the back of the seat for what felt like forever. Tbh, I remember the exact moment he let go and I didn't fall, just kept pedaling. Now, when I'm trying to learn something new at work, I think about that feeling of shaky balance turning into forward motion. Has anyone else had a simple childhood moment that still gives you courage?

My dad just yelled from the porch.

That shaky balance turning into forward motion reminds me of learning to swim, just pure panic then sudden calm.

Wow, did you ever tell your dad what that moment meant to you?

the_wesley's swimming thing is spot on - that "oh no" to "oh wait I'm actually doing this" shift is a total life skill. There's something about learning physical balance that just translates into emotional balance later on, you know? I still tap into that little win whenever I'm staring down something that feels impossible at first.
