Finally fixed my grandmother's old sewing machine after 3 years
I bought a vintage Singer from 1956 at a flea market, but the bobbin winder kept jamming. It took me three years of tinkering and watching repair videos before I discovered a single bent bracket was the cause. Has anyone else dealt with a simple mechanical fix that took way too long to find?

Takes me back to when I spent two years trying to fix a sticky drawer on an old dresser. Turned out a tiny splinter of wood was catching on the rail, something I must have looked at a hundred times. Funny how the simplest problems hide in plain sight like that. It's like our brains just skip over the obvious stuff when we're busy expecting something complicated. Makes you wonder how many other things in life are like that, doesn't it?

Doesn't that whole thing about the brain skipping over the obvious just make you wonder how many times we do that with people too? Like, I've definitely had moments where I was so busy trying to figure out why a friend seemed off or why a coworker was acting weird, and it turns out they just needed a good night's sleep or something simple like that. We get so focused on the big, dramatic possibilities that we totally miss the little splinter of wood right in front of our face. It's like we're trained to expect the complicated answer because it feels more satisfying or important, but the truth is usually just boring and tiny. Really makes you want to slow down and look closer at everything, doesn't it?

Oh man, @the_jana, you nailed it. I had this whole thing with a neighbor who I was convinced was mad at me because she kept giving me short answers and avoiding eye contact. Turned out she was just exhausted from a new puppy keeping her up all night. I felt like an idiot for overanalyzing it for like two weeks. Now I just ask people "You tired?" before I start inventing drama. Cuts through a lot of nonsense, honestly.
