Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say 'I'm not waiting for permission anymore'
It was just a random chat with his friend, but it hit me that I do that a lot, you know, wait for a sign to start things. Anyone else have a simple phrase that just stuck with you?

Honestly, that phrase would have saved me from a lot of weirdness. I once waited two weeks for a text back before asking a girl out, just to find out her phone was broken. Another time I stared at a "pull" door for a solid minute, waiting for someone else to try it first. I'm basically a professional at waiting for a sign that never comes.

It's funny how we all get stuck in these little loops of waiting. I've seen guys on a job site stand by a locked gate for ten minutes, assuming someone else has the key, when it was just latched funny. We're so trained to look for permission or a clear signal that we miss the obvious step of just trying the handle. Makes you wonder how many doors we never open because we're waiting for a sign that isn't coming.
