My upload schedule flip flopped after I switched to mornings for 2 weeks

I used to post my videos around 9 pm every Tuesday and Thursday, and my audience was basically flat, like 300 views tops. Then I started uploading at 6 am before work for a 2 week test, and my last one hit 2,100 views with comments from people I've never seen before. The weird part is the content itself was almost identical, same editing style, same thumbnail layout, even the same intro joke. I think my viewers are early risers or my audience timezone shifted without me noticing, but the analytics showed a completely different watch curve. Is it just me or does upload time actually matter that much, or did I get lucky with the algorithm that week? Has anyone else seen a big jump from a simple schedule change like this?
