A finisher in Amarillo told me to stop brooming my steps wet, and I still think he was half wrong
He cornered me at a pour on Bell Street last month and said a wet broom drag is what causes that chalky top, but I have pulled clean steps that way for 11 years with a 16 inch horsehair. Anyone else had a super ride them about this, or is it just an Amarillo thing?
Had a guy at the supply yard in Lubbock do the same thing to me about a float finish. He swore up and down the mix was too wet and that was why it looked cloudy. Turns out the real problem was a dirty trowel he kept using all morning. Funny how guys blame the method before they look at their own tools. I still drag mine wet and get clean steps every time.
