Warning: Had a client's server room flood from a broken pipe above the ceiling

It was at a small law firm in Austin, and water started dripping right onto the main rack. I had to power everything down fast and move the critical hardware to a dry table. Has anyone else dealt with a surprise water leak in a client site?

Keep a cheap plastic tarp folded up in your service bag for exactly this.

A cheap tarp is just a band-aid. Robin591 has the right idea, you need to find the real problem first.

Check the ceiling for any other pipes or AC units before you even touch the rack. I've seen a second leak start after the first one gets fixed, making a bad day way worse. That extra minute of looking up can save your whole cleanup job.
