Had a client's backup drive fail right before a system migration in Austin

Their RAID 5 array had a second disk die during the copy, so I had to pull data from their cloud sync which took 16 hours. Anyone else run into a double disk failure during a critical move?

My buddy Mike in Dallas lost two drives in a RAID 6 setup during a server upgrade last year. He had to restore from tape backups that were a week old. The whole thing added two full days to his project timeline because they had to manually re-enter all the new data. He checks those backup tapes every single month now.

Two drives failed in a RAID 6 at the same time? That's some awful luck.

Oof, that's rough. Honestly, a weekly backup check sounds like the bare minimum after going through something like that. I'd be paranoid and test them way more often.
