Broken displays stacking up after each repair

Laptops with bad screens come in all the time. Clients often opt for replacement over repair. How do you handle the leftover parts responsibly?

Yep, pulling those still-good parts before trashing the whole thing is a total game changer! I have a whole box for salvaged flex cables and good hinges from smashed screens. Last week I used a perfect inverter from an old display to fix a backlight issue, and it saved a repair. That tip from @the_karen about the driver boards is gold too. I've definitely built a "frankenstein" monitor tester from a few of those.

Have you looked into pulling usable components before trashing the whole display? Connectors, inverters, and even the backlight strips are often still good. I keep a bin for those parts and use them for other repairs.

Totally agree, and don't forget the driver boards too, they're often reusable. I've cobbled together working monitors from like three dead ones using those parts. Makes troubleshooting way easier when you have spare bits on hand.

Honestly I used to just toss the whole broken display without a second thought. Felt like it was all junk once the screen cracked. But pulling those good parts changed everything for me. Now I've got a drawer full of working inverters and connectors that have saved so many repairs. It's crazy how much usable stuff gets thrown out.
