Shoutout to the diver in Galveston who told me to skip the extra weight belt
I was doing a hull clean on a supply boat and struggling with trim. He said to just move two lead blocks from my backplate to my chest pockets instead of adding another belt. It worked perfectly and saved me a ton of hassle gearing up. Anyone else find a simple gear tweak that fixed a big problem?

That Galveston diver nailed it. Sometimes the best fix is moving what you already have instead of adding more gear. I've seen too many divers overcomplicate their rig.

Remember that time I kept fighting a bad trim? I moved my tank up an inch on the band and shifted some weight from my waist to my shoulders. It was free and took ten minutes, but it felt like a whole new setup. My air use got better because I wasn't working against my gear anymore. Simple fixes are usually right under your nose.

Honestly feels like people make a huge deal out of trim sometimes. I mean, sure, it helps, but is it really that life changing? I've been diving for years and never messed with tank bands much. My air use is fine. Maybe some folks just overthink their gear setup and blame it on trim when they're just kicking too hard. Idk, maybe it's just me but a ten minute fix isn't solving everything.

Ruby, you said "people make a huge deal out of trim sometimes." I hear you, but I think you might be underestimating how much a bad trim can wear you down over a long dive. It's not just about air consumption. It's about how your lower back feels after an hour of fighting to stay level, or how much more energy you have at the end of a working dive. Simple adjustments like moving weight around really do save you from fighting yourself the whole time.
