Picked the cheap backpack over the fancy one for a 3 week trip, turns out it was right

I chose the $40 no-name pack from the outlet mall instead of the $180 Osprey because the store clerk in Portland said weight matters more than brand, and after 12 miles of trail each day that cheap thing rode better than anything I've tried, so has anyone else found that cheaper gear wins when you actually test it hard?

Fancy labels do not mean better fit. Sometimes the cheap stuff just works.
