Appreciation post: My brother told me to stop buying pre-ground coffee

He said to get a cheap grinder and whole beans from the local roaster, so I grabbed a $30 hand grinder and some beans from River City Roasters. The difference in my morning cup was huge, way more flavor and it just tasted fresher. Anyone have tips for a good electric grinder under $100 for when I'm feeling lazy?

Totally agree, that fresh grind makes all the difference. For an electric one under $100, the Baratza Encore is the usual pick, but you can sometimes find refurbished ones for a bit less. It's a solid step up from a cheap blade grinder.

Yeah, the jump from a blade grinder to something like an Encore is honestly huge. It feels like you're finally tasting the coffee you paid for, not just bitter dust. That first cup from a proper burr grinder is a real eye-opener. Makes you wonder how you put up with the old way for so long. Solid advice on looking for refurbished units, that's how a lot of folks get into better gear without the full price.

Remember when you first tried a real burr grinder, @the_wesley? It was like my whole coffee life had been a lie before that.
