My town finally hit 500 solar roofs and nobody threw a party but I'm throwing one in my head
I've been tracking the little online dashboard for my city's solar rebate program since January, and last Tuesday it ticked over to 500 homes with panels installed. What bugs me is people keep saying solar is only for rich folks, but 38% of those 500 installs went to households making under $60k, which I only know because the city publishes the income brackets every quarter. Has anyone else watched their local numbers like this, or am I the only one refreshing a spreadsheet at 11pm?
Man, I did the exact same thing with my county's dashboard a couple years back and it honestly became a weird hobby. I started posting the monthly numbers in our neighborhood Facebook group, mostly the income breakdown, and it got a few people who swore solar was too pricey to actually go get quotes. Turns out seeing your own neighbors on the list does more than any sales pitch.
