Used a tarp directly on my '65 Mustang for 2 winters. Bad idea.

Pulled it out of storage last spring. Paint was all foggy and had these weird moisture spots trapped underneath. Tarp glued itself to the hood in a few places. Buddy at the shop said I needed a breathable car cover. Felt like an idiot. Who else has ruined paint with a regular tarp?

Honestly I used to be one of those people who thought a tarp was fine and that car covers were just a waste of money lol. Then I saw what happened to my buddy's Camaro after one winter under a plain blue tarp. That cloudy paint looks exactly what you described and it took hours of buffing just to get it halfway decent again. Now I tell everyone who will listen to just spend the extra cash on a breathable cover because that trapped moisture is no joke. It changed my whole perspective on how to store a car properly.

Think you meant cloudy paint. Foggy happens when you drive in mist, hazy is like from sun damage. Cloudy is what you get from trapped moisture and tarp glue.
