Rant: my car cover trapped so much sweat under it that my trunk lid started to bubble
So I keep my 1968 Cutlass in one of those portable fabric garages behind my place near Bakersfield, and about six weeks ago I did what I figured was the smart thing and threw a cheap fitted cover over it since the tent lets a little dust in through the seams. Big mistake. We had a hot stretch where it sat at 104 for days, and that cover basically turned into a sauna. I pulled it off after some rain rolled through and found water beaded all along the top of the trunk lid and back glass, plus the paint up there had gone cloudy and one spot the size of a quarter was already lifting. I dried everything with old towels, ran a fan on it for two days, and then took the cover off for good. Now I just leave it uncovered in the tent and park a box fan at the door after it rains. My plan is to get a real breathable one made of that layered material instead of the plastic backed thing I bought for 40 bucks at a swap meet, but I want to hear what actually works. Has anyone run a cover inside one of these fabric shelters without cooking the paint, and if so what are you using?
