Our walk-in temp spiked to 50F overnight last week

Found out the door gasket had a tiny tear, letting warm air in. It was fine at closing, ruined $300 of product by morning. Anyone know a good brand for heavy-duty gaskets?

I always thought those gaskets were overbuilt until a tear like that cost me a whole pallet of greens. Now I check them with a flashlight every single night.

That's a solid routine for sure, but honestly think it's overkill for most setups. Susanb34 has a point about heavy duty cases, but nightly checks with a light seem like a lot of extra work for a small chance of failure. The standard gaskets are pretty tough if they're installed right.

Switched to ColdGuard after a bad leak last year and it's been solid. Susanb34 is right about them holding up better under heavy use. I still do a quick visual check when I close up, but I don't stress over it every single night anymore. That peace of mind is worth the extra few bucks, you know?

That's brutal, a tiny tear doing that much damage. Went from fine to wrecked in what, eight hours? Honestly makes you want to check every seal twice a day. For heavy duty stuff, we've had good luck with the ColdGuard brand replacements.
