Caught myself getting all judgy about a new hire's messy code until they showed me a simpler way to do something I'd been overcomplicating for years
I mean, this guy from the Houston office was just like 'why don't you try this one formula instead' and it saved me like 3 hours a week, made me realize I was being a snob for no reason, has anyone else had a moment where someone way younger taught them something obvious?

Just told a 19 year old I felt like a grandpa learning Snapchat.

The first time a 22 year old intern showed me how to use pivot tables I felt like an absolute dinosaur, I had been manually sorting data for like 5 years before that. It's humbling for sure but honestly the best thing you can do is just lean into it and ask people to show you their shortcuts. I started making it a habit to ask every new person I work with if they have any tricks up their sleeve, and I have learned so much stuff I would never have figured out on my own. Being open like that also makes people more comfortable coming to you with questions too, it goes both ways.

Dropped my coffee mug when a 20 year old showed me how to use keyboard shortcuts in Excel last month. I had been right clicking everything for like a decade. Now I make it a point to ask any new hire under 25 to show me their fastest workflow tricks. Half the time they look at me like I'm from another planet but I've picked up some seriously useful stuff.
